The Suppressions page — each row shows the email address, suppression status, bounce count, source, and available actions.

Overview

The Suppressions page (Marketing → Suppressions) lists every email address that will not receive mail from your store. It merges three sources: customers who opted out of transactional mail, contacts who unsubscribed from campaigns, and addresses that accumulated too many bounces.

Use this page to see why an address is blocked, how many bounces it has recorded, and to lift or resubscribe an address when a customer asks to be re-enabled.

Suppression Types

An address can be suppressed in two distinct ways — transactional and campaign — and both can apply at once.

Transactional suppression
Blocks order confirmations, shipping updates, and other system emails. This is set when a customer opts out, or when an address accumulates enough hard bounces to be blocked automatically.
Campaign unsubscribe
Blocks future marketing campaign emails for a contact in your lists. This is set when a contact clicks the unsubscribe link in a campaign email.
Both suppressed
The address is blocked from both transactional and campaign mail. Use Lift all to clear both at once.
Bounced (not yet suppressed)
The address has recorded one or more bounces but has not yet hit the threshold that triggers automatic suppression. These rows are shown for visibility — no action is required unless you want to suppress them manually.

Filtering and Searching

Use the controls at the top of the page to narrow down the list:

Status dropdown
Filter by All suppressions, Transactional suppressed only, Campaign unsubscribed only, Both suppressed, or Bounced but not yet suppressed.
Search box
Type an email address or partial address to find a specific entry.
Sort headers
Click the Email, Suppressed, or Bounces column header to sort the table ascending or descending.

Available Actions

Each row has an actions menu with up to three options depending on the address's current status.

Lift
Removes the transactional suppression. The address starts receiving order confirmations and system emails again. This does not affect campaign subscription status.
Resubscribe
Restores campaign mail for the address. The contact will receive future email campaigns. This does not affect transactional suppression.
Lift all
Clears both transactional suppression and campaign unsubscribe in one click. Use this when a customer confirms they want to receive all mail from your store again.

Bounce Events

Every time a sent email comes back as undeliverable, a bounce event is recorded. The table shows the total bounce count and the latest bounce reason for each address.

Invalid address / Invalid domain
Hard bounces — the address or domain does not exist. These addresses are suppressed automatically after the first hard bounce.
Mailbox full
Soft bounce — the recipient's mailbox has no space. The address may become reachable again once they clear their inbox.
Rejected
Soft bounce — the receiving mail server rejected the message. This can be temporary. Multiple rejections raise the bounce count toward the suppression threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Suppressions page in DabDash?

The Suppressions page (Marketing → Suppressions) lists every email address that will not receive transactional mail (order confirmations, shipping updates) or campaign mail. It merges three sources: customers who opted out, contacts who unsubscribed from campaigns, and addresses that accumulated bounce events. You can search, filter, and lift suppressions from here.

What is the difference between transactional suppression and campaign unsubscribe in DabDash?

Transactional suppression blocks order confirmation and system emails for a customer. Campaign unsubscribe blocks future marketing campaigns for a contact in your lists. A single email address can appear in one or both. The Suppressions page shows which applies, and separate Lift / Resubscribe actions address each.

How do I lift a suppression for a customer in DabDash?

Find the address on the Suppressions page and click Lift. This removes the transactional suppression so the customer starts receiving order confirmation and system emails again. Use Resubscribe to restore campaign mail. Use Lift all to clear both at once.

What does a bounce mean on the Suppressions page in DabDash?

Each bounce event is recorded when a sent email comes back as undeliverable. The bounce count and the latest bounce reason (invalid address, invalid domain, mailbox full, rejected) are shown for each address. Addresses that exceed the suppression threshold are automatically marked as suppressed to protect your sending reputation.

Can I filter the Suppressions page in DabDash?

Yes. Use the status dropdown to show All suppressions, Transactional suppressed only, Campaign unsubscribed only, Both suppressed, or Bounced but not yet suppressed. Use the search box to find a specific email address. You can also sort by email, date suppressed, or bounce count.
